GROWING AND LEARNING TOGETHER
The Farm is constantly open to new ways to partner with organizations in order to meet the student artists' needs for development. All of our programs create opportunities for early career artists to be put in contact with working professionals in order for the artists to grow as individual. These partnerships as benefit the more experienced professional as well by collaborating with passionate talented artists and developing work of their own. These programs are an opportunity for the artists to apply what they are learning in the classroom with professional collaborations. The programs also provided opportunities for Farm Artists to work as teachers as well as directors, writers, and actors. |
I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAYPadraic Lillis was the Humana Visiting Scholar and Resident Artist at Centre College in Kentucky. Over the semester he facilitated ten students creating their own ten minute plays on topics of race, privilege, gender and sexuality empowerment, courage, mental health, family appreciation, career aspirations, and the courage to take the next step.
From inspiration to fruition it is very inspiring to have the students share what they care about and then witness them to becoming confident advocates thru their art on those topics. |
SociAl Distance CommissionDuring Covid-19 our partner schools wanted to stay engaged with their students and work live if possible. One program we came up with was to commission a Farm Playwright to write a play that could be safely rehearsed and performed following the CDC guidelines. Our partner school Hillsborough Community College partnered with playwright Amy Gisbers van Wijk to create a beautiful play about our need for intimacy.

Semester in NYCIn Fall of 2021 three schools will be sending students to study in NYC for the semester. Over the semester The Farm Theater will be facilitating a class that highlights the many different important cultural institutions in the city and their history; while also connecting them to the work they are creating today and the artists of all disciplines that they work with.
