Vision:
Empower the individual Artist by building a community of support |
The Farm Theater develops early career artists, which may not have the support system afforded others, through workshops, productions, and mentoring. Our industry creates pathways to opportunities for those with privilege, education, and other forms of access. In our seven-year history The Farm Theater has recognized a gap that exists for early career artists with less of those attributes built into their pedigree and has worked to create links and networks for them to build a foundation on which to take the next step in their career. Our goal is to abolish the need for pedigree and to develop a community that values the unique talents of each individual artist.
Each person has their own definition of success and takes their own path toward that goal. We do this by: Maintaining flexibility in the curation of our programming to meet the unique needs of the individual artist. Utilize the tools of theater to develop and empower the individual's voice. Generate opportunities for early career artists to work as collaborators with more established artists. Foster an environment where everyone's voice is valued and learning and sharing of knowledge is encouraged. Create a community of peer support. Establish a network of professional theater artists and organizations that are willing to share their experience and mentorship to establish a foundation for the early career artist.
